Do you love removing weeds as much as we do? It's almost as cathartic as a good book. If so, join Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission, Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department, and Athens Land Trust for invasive removal on October 27! Partnerships like this one allow us to not only make an impressive difference in invasives removal, said Keep Oconee County Beautiful Executive Director Cindy Pritchard, but also allow for an educational opportunity on the detrimental effects that invasives have on our environment.

UNG - University of North Georgia are studying the invasive Joro spider. I encourage anyone interested in science and/or the outdoors to download the app from iNaturalist.org called, surprisingly, iNaturalist. It is free and helps identify animals and plants; The data can also be used by scientist such as those at UNG.

WHO ARE DOOLEY AND BALDWIN? Dooley & Baldwin are a brand new duo. Although experienced musicians and performers, Ashton Dooley and Norman Baldwin first gathered to write music no less than a year ago. Since then, they have quietly crafted 40 songs and, given the covid pandemic, picked the worst moment in modern history to debut their music that covers no less than three genresalternative rock, pop, and country. Ashton Dooley has crafted over 100 songs and performed prima...rily in the breweries and coffee shops of his former hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina. He is the son of the late Bill Dooley and the nephew of Vince Dooley. Ashton is currently completing a Ph.D. program in Sports Pedagogy at The University of Georgia. Norman Baldwin is a songwriter and front man who entertained University of Alabama students for 11 years before returning to Athens a year ago. He has sung for Simon Cowell on the X Factor, is the son of a UGA professor, and a relative of Abraham Baldwin, founder of UGA. I haven't heard the whole album yet but the three songs I have heard were all really good.
