Look at the impact kids can make! All of these blankets have been made by the 4th graders at PES through our Synergy Squads. They are being donated to Bloom, to support the kids in foster care in our community! Our kids are learning to love others well and are seeing first hand how they can be leaders at PES and in Fayette County!

Fourth graders problem solve and collaborate as they learn about characterization by reenacting a character's struggle. Students created a message through robotics, much like Hugo persevered to repair his automaton in the novel, The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick.

4th Grade STEAM Challenge Kids had to use the supplied materials in a competition to see who could make the most realistic/functional anemometer, rain gauge, and barometer. They also learned about how different materials were more successful than others (depending on the item they were making). This was transferred into how people also have different traits that help us to be more successful on certain tasks/jobs etc... One material, nor one type of person will be best for everything in life!

Book Character Day will be held next Friday, October 30th. Below is a list of guidelines to make the day a fun experience for everyone. Dressing up is not required for anyone. Students may dress up as their favorite book character.... Students should have a copy of the book with them. Costumes that may scare young children are not permitted. Props are not allowed. All costumes need to be handled at home - no putting on costumes at school, applying make-up in the bathroom, etc. Students should expect to wear the costume for the entire day. Face paint is discouraged because it will most likely become uncomfortable after wearing it for several hours. Keep in mind that if face paint is essential to the book character, it needs to be applied at home. Students should not bring face paint, hair paint, etc. to school. We are excited and ready to have a fun-filled day next Friday!

As Thanksgiving approaches, I would like to thank all of our Rocket Families for their continued support during this unprecedented time. We could not do our jobs effectively without the support of each and every one of you! We are so fortunate to have such an amazing and supportive community. Last week our Rockets celebrated Thanksgiving with a Holiday Feast in their classrooms provided by our wonderful cafeteria staff. It was definitely not the same without all of our Rocket Families joining us, but the children did enjoy the lunch! We hope all of our Rocket Families have an enjoyable and safe Thanksgiving break! The Thanksgiving Holidays will be from Wednesday through Friday.
