PGMS PTSO 13.02.2021

Today we showed our Piney Grove Middle Staff how thankful we are for them by treating them to delicious and nutritious afternoon snacks! They do so much for our students and we love to give back to them on behalf of the entire PTSO! By being a part of the PTSO you have a part in doing things like this. If you haven’t had a chance to join yet this year, membership options are available in My Payments Plus! Please go check it out! Have a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving Break, Grizzlies!

Introducing our 2020-2021 PTSO Board Niki Karr President I’m happy to serve as President of the Piney Grove PTSO this year. This is my 3rd year on the Board at Piney. I was also on the Board at Big Creek Elementary for 3 years. My daughter, Alex is an 8th grader. Both of my sons also graduated through PGMS. I look forward to supporting our teachers, students & parents as much as possible during this school year!... Kelly Flock Treasurer I'm so excited to serve as Treasurer on the Piney Grove PTSO this year! I served on the PTO Board at Shiloh Point Elementary for 4 years as well as other volunteer positions. I graduated from University of North Georgia with a Degree in Finance. My husband, Jim, and I live in Longlake and have three boys: Brady (6th grade), Jacob (3rd grade), and Tyler (Kindergarten). I'm looking forward to a great year! Jennifer Kessler Secretary This is my first year as a PGMS parent and I am so excited to serve on the PTSO board as Secretary! Over the past several years I have served on the board of the PTO at Brookwood Elementary and this year I am super excited to also serve on the board with Piney. My day job is running a Subaru dealership but my real passion and life’s work is pouring into my four kids’ lives and volunteering to support the amazing teachers and staff members who love on our kids so well. My oldest, Camden, is a sixth grader at Piney; my son, Cooper, and my daughter, Ashlynn, are in fifth and first grade at Brookwood; and my youngest son, Colton, who just turned four, anxiously awaits his turn to be a Brookwood Bobcat and then eventually one of the PGMS Grizzlies! I’m looking forward to an amazing year at PGMS! Even though this school year looks very different...and our PTSO Board is very modest...we SO look forward to caring for our teachers, staff, students, and families! Be on the lookout for more ways you can do the same and be a part of our membership of families supporting our school.

From our Superintendent: Dear FCS Parents: We have had a good first two days. I am proud of our entire staff for their hard work and preparation. Your children were very compliant with our new protocols and procedures. They were respectful of our staff and one another. Thank you for that. We MUST remain vigilant!... We do need your help with a couple of issues. Children who are symptomatic should NOT be in school. Children waiting on the results of a Covid-19 test should NOT be in school. Sending symptomatic children and those awaiting test results to school is compromising our ability to keep all staff and students safe. If this continues, it will compromise our ability to keep our schools open. I implore you to please model for your children what we expect of them, especially when you are on one of our campuses. We expect EVERYONE on campus to: Mask up, Wash up, Cover up (coughs and sneezes), Back up (give space) and Clean up. This is our new normal and we all need to form new habits. It takes a little time but I do believe if we will all work TOGETHER, we can keep all of our schools open. If symptomatic children continue to come to school, we are going to be directed by the Department of Health to quarantine more students and staff. It doesn’t have to be this way. I encourage you to send this letter to your friends and neighbors and post it on social media. You will likely get another friendly reminder about these issues from your principal next week. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend and let’s have an awesome week 2. With your help, we can do this! Sincerely, Jeff
