Good afternoon Polk County! The state tag system went through an upgrade last week, and the system is very slow. Currently our office is open in Cedartown but the system is very slow. Unfortunately, our wait times have been long, so if you need a tag or title you will have to wait. We are working as hard as we can, so please bear with us. We apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.

Our Rockmart location will be closed until February 1, 2021 due to Covid. The Cedartown location will remain open 9 to 5 Monday through Friday. We will be closed Monday January 18, 2021 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

The Polk County Tax Commissioner's office will be unable to process any motor vehicle transactions due to a statewide computer system update between January 13th through January 18th 2021. - All online motor vehicle related services including online tag renewal services will be offline January the 13th through January the 18th. -Motor vehicle self-service kiosks will also be offline January 13th to January 18th. ... How will this impact Georgia customers and drivers? - During the week of January 19th through the 22nd, walk-in customers may experience delays and longer than normal wait times. To avoid such delays, Georgia residents with January and February renewal dates are encouraged to renew prior to Wednesday January 13th. -Customers and dealers seeking to conduct any title transactions should complete their business out of County tag office prior to Wednesday January 13th. -Dealers will be able to initiate electronic title and registration transactions and issue temporary operating permits over MLK Day weekend. -Law enforcement will still have access to motor vehicle records through a statewide backup file.

Good Morning, We the tax and tag office are still closed to the public until April 13, 2020. We will re-evaluate At that time to reopen to public. We are in the office to assist you by phone (770-749-2125)or (770-684-3185). email [email protected] You can do most transactions on line.... 1) Pay property tax 2) Renew tags 3) Cancel or replace registration. 4) Pay insurance fines. 5) Change address. 6) Get estimate of TAVT or Ad valorem taxes. 7) Go green. ( opt to get you registration renewals By email. 8. Look up information such as vehicle information, title status, insurance status, registration status, and prestige plate plate inquiry. You can also renew your tags at any Motor Vehicle Kiosk in Georgia. Check for locations at www.dor.ga.gov. Happy Wednesday! We just wanted to remind you about the new tag/title system that will be going live May 28th! The tag/title office will close tomorrow THURSDAY MAY 23 at 1:00 pm and will not reopen until TUESDAY MAY 28th at 9:00 am! All county offices will be CLOSED MONDAY, MAY 27TH for Memorial Day. Due to the short staff we are experiencing during DRIVES training, we will have to close the Rockmart location Friday, May 17th. The office in Cedartown will be open from 9-5 all day Friday to help you! Happy Friday! Just a reminder the Rockmart location will be CLOSED May 8-10th so our staff can attend DRIVES training for the new car tag system. The Cedartown office will be open and operational as normal. Also, the old car tag system will be closed and offline at 1:00 pm Thursday May 23rd and Friday May 24 in both offices to prepare for the new system, DRIVES to start. No car tags or titles will sold during this time, so prepare early and get your tags! The office will be CLOSED May 27th for Memorial Day, and reopen with the new DRIVES system on Tuesday May 28th.
