Station 1 responded with stations 5 and 12 to the northern end of mountain city for a residential fire. The fire went to 2 alarms and our aerial device had to be used to being the blaze under control. There were no injuries reported and the cause is still under investigation. American Red Cross is assisting the victims of the home.

Station 1 members, the Rabun county fire paid staff, as well as members from other stations have been busy over the past few weeks honing their skills with our "new to us" aerial device. This drill is placing a cone that is suspended from the tip of the aerial onto another cone in a stationary position. It's a lot of fun and helps reinforce good smooth movements with the ladder.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our own. David Ramey has been a volunteer member of Rabun County Fire Service for many years all of the current officers of Station 1 started their Fire Department carreers alongside David who was always ready to act as a mentor to young people joining the fire service. David never discouraged or degraded anyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand to help others in any way needed. David was a man who to...ok great pride in serving his community in his role as a Firefighter/EMT and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our hearts go out to his children and family during this very sad time and ask that all remember them in their prayers. Although we are devastated by this loss, we will continue to carry on in the same manner that David would want to continue to help and serve the community whenever possible. Everyone in the fire service will carry a piece of David with us every day through our lives and actions, by either a lesson we learned from David or just a moment when he made a lasting impression like he has with so many. We would like to thank you in advance for the prayers for David’s children and family and also his fire department family who will miss him greatly. Rest easy David Ramey #155 we have got it from here See more
