From AOPA's Pilot Protection Services newsletter to all my friends flying under Basic Med: LEGAL TIP WITH CRISTINA ZAMBRANA Timing the Basic Calendar Concerning BasicMed expiration dates, the timing pertaining to the online course (14 CFR 61.23(c)(3)(i)(C)) is written slightly differently than the regulation pertaining to the physical exam (14 CFR 61.23(c)(3)(i)(D)). The online course with certification of completion must be completed within the past 24 calendar months. Cal...endar months are also known as unit months. AC 68-1A defines this period as beginning on the first of the month and ending on the last day of the month. In the Advisory Circular’s example, a certificate of completion issued on January 15, 2020 with a 24-calendar-month duration does not expire until January 31, 2022. However, the physical exam from a State-licensed physician and all sections of the Comprehensive Medical Examination Checklist (CMEC) must be completed during the previous 48 months (to the day). Here, if the physical exam is completed on January 15, 2020 with a 48-month duration, the pilot must again undergo this by January 15, 2024. See more

Falcon Aviation Academy, which trained Chinese aviation students at three Georgia airports, "shut down most of its operations," a decision that "appears to be connected to the outbreak of the coronavirus in China," the Newnan Times-Herald reported.

I won a brand new Lightspeed Zulu 3 headset and got to use it last night. Seemed okay, but I had trouble hearing Tower while intercom was blowing my ears out. Thanks to Anthony Santiago, I now know which knobs to twist to control volume. Today, it was great while taxing down to pick up Young Eagles, but on the four flights following initial taxi, I really didn't notice any major difference between the Zulus and my old, reliable David Clark passive set. When taxing back to the hangar I noticed they were not turned on. The battery savers apparently kicked in after five minutes of "no sound" while I was meeting and orienting my passengers. Sheesh. It's times like this I miss the third digit most other people have in their IQ.
