The Christian holiday of Easter is conducted around the world around the week of the Jewish holiday of Passover. Which this year started the evening of Wednesday, April 8th and ending the evening of Thursday, April 16. The name Easter, which originally comes from a pagan Festival holiday honoring Eastre or Eastera, a goddess of light and Spring. To whom sacrifices were offered in her honor. This pagen holiday was celebrated about the same time as Passover was held. As early a...s the 8th century, the name was merged and used to celebrate the annual Christian celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Which is hundreds and hundreds of years after Jesus went to heaven. Why did God not stop the merging of the Christian holiday and a pagen holiday? While I was preparing for this devotional, thinking about that question. A thought came to me on how the coronavirus has shut down Easter church services this year. The coronavirus has also shut down everything that we, the world, worships. (Athletes, musicians, actors, money and churches) I realized that God was showing us, Christians, and the world that He is the God of all gods. Psalms 82:1 GNBDC "God presides in the heavenly council; in the assembly of the gods he gives his decision:" Just like God did with Egypt. Where God showed the Egyptians that He was God of all gods. From turning the Nile to blood, which showed God, was over the god of the Nile river called Khnum. A ram headed god, who was the protector of the river. To making it hail, which showed God was over the goddess Nut, protectress of sky and weather. To making darkness, to show God was over the god Apophis, the Egyptian god of darkness, chaos and plagues. To Jesus coming out of the tomb, where he defeated death and Hell.I Psalms 82:5-7 GNBDC How ignorant you are! How stupid! You are completely corrupt, and justice has disappeared from the world. ‘You are gods,’ I said; ‘all of you are children of the Most High. ’But you will die like mort als; your life will end like that of any prince. So, by looking at God in this new light. That He is a God over all gods. We, as Christians, can further comprehend his character and personality. As Jews partake of the Passover by eating a ritual seder meal in memory of their deliverance. We, as Christians, should commemorate our deliverance from the penalty of sin, and also our Deliverance from the gods of this world and all the Idols in our life. By remembering Jesus’ death and Resurrection today. Could God use the coronavirus to get our attention? In three short months, just like God did with the plagues of Egypt, God has taken away everything we worship. We as followers of Jesus need to be the kind of Believer that when our feet hit the floor each and every morning. The Devil says " oh no! They are up." How do we be tha type of Believer that the Devil does not want us get out of bed? By drinking from the Living Water, daily. That living water is Jesus Christ. Revelation 21:6 GW "He said to me, It has happened! I am the A and the Z, the beginning and the end. I will give a drink from the fountain filled with the water of life to anyone who is thirsty. It won't cost anything."
