Check out this amazing transformation by Dr. Ambrose! Congenital ear deformities are irregularly shaped ears in the newborn. The deformities may be caused by positioning of the infant in the uterus during development. The ears may stick out, look folded or scrunched. If the misshapen ear does not improve in the first few days of life molding may be an option. Many deformities respond well to molds or splints applied during the first week of life. Treatment time lasts 2 or more weeks and provides long-lasting results without the need for surgery. The picture below is a patient with Stahl's ear deformity. The molds were applied for two weeks with significant improvement in the shape and appearance of the ear.
