Well, well, well! Fina decided National Black Dog Day was serious- she blessed us with 8, yes 8 black dogs! We don't know who dad was but his genes were strong! CAN YOU DONATE $8 FOR NATIONAL BLACK DOG DAY?

Southern Animal Volunteer Effort 02.11.2020

Some stories are harder than others over here at SAVE. We've just welcomed Fina into our family. Though Animal Control offered to take her when she was younger, the people who once owned her refused. Now, Fina is terrified of humans and feral, meaning she just doesn't have enough experience with people to understand how to be a dog. On top of all of that, she's pregnant. But, first thing first: she's in desperate need of a bath since she's covered in fleas and ticks. But eve...n baths are hard with her when she's scared of everyone around her. We're giving her all the love, patience, and space we can. Our goal is to make her birthing experience as pleasant and fear-free as possible, while also working hard to give her puppies a better life than she's had so far. There are many amazing ways to help support us. From direct donations to liking our social posts, we appreciate all everyone has done so far to ensure we can continue to save animals and find them their forever homes. But if you're looking for a more specific way to make direct contributions to our work, we're so happy to offer our Amazon wishlist! The link below contains a few products you can buy and ship to us that will help make our work easier, keep our dogs happy, and... let us focus on rescuing even more future pets. More specifically, we'd LOVE help purchasing DNA kits for a litter of puppies we just saved. That way, we can figure out what breed they are, which comes with a lot of pertinent information such as how big they'll grow one day. Please consider helping us fulfill this need for our organization! If you cannot buy one yourself, please hit the share button on this post so it can get in front of even more eyes. Thank you so much, everyone! https://www.amazon.com//41Z4MOZ0N/ref=bnav_topnav_lists_1

Unfortunately, yep, even adorable poodles end up in shelters. Please join us in welcoming Phoebe the Poodle to SAVE! While she might have had a rough start to life so far, she's in loving hands with us now. Here are a few fun facts about Pheobe. She loves dogs, has never met a stranger, and is as sweet as they come. We absolutely can't wait to see where her journey takes her next. As always, we couldn't do this work without your support. If you're able, please hit the dona...te button at the top of the page. Or, even better, visit our website to donate to us directly: http://savecares.com/. See more

Oink, oink! We're so excited to introduce to y'all our smallest Save yet, Smores the guinea pig! Unfortunately, many times guinea pigs are an impulse buy at pet stores. People don't often realize they're a six-year commitment that can brighten any home with their hilarious sounds, loving personalities, and playful spirits. Are you a fan of these adorable animals and know the level of care they require? Keep a lookout for more information on Smores on our website. We're ...so excited to find him his forever home! As always, we couldn't do this work without your support. If you're able, please hit the donate button at the top of the page. Rufus was a dog that came to SAVE after a traumatic past. He was hit by a car and was really suffering. We jumped in to help him and now he is doing so much better. Just look at that smile! We love getting updates from his family on all of his adventures! Let us know how your pups are doing too in the comments down below!

Alumni-dog Odie says this quarantine has made him exhausted, especially on this Monday morning! Anyone else feeling the same? Let's use all this extra time to snuggle our furry-loved ones extra close.

Here at SAVE, we know it's amazing what a few weeks of TLC can do for our amazing dogs. When Charlie first came to his foster home, he wouldn't come out from underneath a desk for weeks. But, slowly, thanks to the hard work of his foster parents, he gained confidence and decided he loves people! He's now headed to a longer-term foster home that will work hard with him so that he can learn how to be a pet. We're so excited to watch him grow and can't wait to let you guys know how he's progressing along. Check out these amazing before and after photos below to see just how much Charlie has changed.

SAVE family: We need your help. We are looking for a home for our wonderful pup, Pretzel. WE NEED YOUR COMMENTS AND SHARES!!! Pretzel has been through so much. He sat with a broken pelvis at animal control for months as no one would take him. He was so sweet and would watch as the other dogs were taken into rescue, but never him. He was quiet, never barked, and always gentle. Finally, we took him on to see how they could make life better for him. He was on cage rest for mont...hs until his body healed. He was finally done! He was so excited to be a puppy again! And then, the unthinkable happened. He contracted meningitis, taking his vision and most of his hearing. He made it through that treatment, although it was touch and go. With each day, he gained a person on his cheering squad, as he is one of those special dogs that captures everyone’s hearts. We sent him to a school where he could learn commands by touch. He is so smart, that he picked it up immediately. He would make a WONDERFUL emotional support dog or a family pet. Can you please SHARE him far and wide? If interested, please apply at http://www.savecares.com/adoption-application/
