The Athens office was lucky again this year to spend Friday, October 23rd, at Camp Hooray. Extra Special People run this beautiful camp, and it serves children of all ages with different needs and their families. They provide respite care for the sweet kiddos to give their parents a moment to catch their breath. We got to meet several of the families last year, and it was amazing! One sweet boy named Dustin stuck to the guys working power tools all day. Dustin was there again this year and spent the day with us he even remembered some of the team from last year. We have done various projects for ESP over the years, and this year, we painted the interior of their cantina. It was an awesome day, and we were so grateful to serve this community partner again. #SRGWay #ServewithCompassion

As the weather cools down, we are looking forward to lighting the fireplaces for the first time this season. Here are some things to remember before lighting th...e first fire of the season: Keep the area around the hearth clear of debris, decorations and any other combustible materials. Consider having your chimney, fireplace, wood or pellet stove inspected and cleaned by a licensed chimney specialist. Open the flue is open before lighting your fire to help ensure the fireplace will vent properly. Use a match or commercial firelighter. Never use flammable liquids to start a fire. Close metal mesh screens should remain closed whenever your fireplace is in use to help keep embers in the fireplace. However, keep glass doors open while a fire is burning. Choose dry wood for your fireplace. Do not burn plastic indoors. Before leaving the house or going to bed, you should make certain to fully extinguish the fire. Allow ashes to cool completely before disposing of them ashes can take several days to cool completely. Never empty ashes directly into a trash can.

In honor of #FirePreventionWeek, here are 10 tips from The American Red Cross to keep your family safe and home from devastation. 1. Create 3 feet between a it...em that gets hot and anything that could catch fire. 2. Turn off space heaters when not in use. 3. Avoid smoking in bed. 4. Blow out candles before leaving the room. 5. Review fire safety tips with children. 6. Keep matches and lighters out of children's reach. 7. Check fire alarms on every level. Replace if alarms are older than 10 years. 8. Create a fire escape plan for your home. Make sure it can be conducted in 2 mins. 9. Practice your fire plan at least twice a year. 10.
