It's time to celebrate black cats everywhere! Today is #nationalblackcatday and the day aims to raise awareness for their adoption rates. Due to a lot of superstitions and myths surrounding black cats, these felines are not adopted by households unlike the others of their species. These feline creatures in their sleek, black coats may carry an air of mystery, but love just as much as their lighter coated family members.... See that picture? Doesn’t it just want to make you say awwwww!Who couldn’t love that adorable black pup? The same stigma that surrounds black cats also affects black dogs; Even today, there are still people who mistakenly believe that black dogs are bad omens and harbingers of rotten luck (Which is COMPLETELY untrue. Their shiny coats are smooth like satin, especially when you’re out playing in the warm sunshine. Unfortunately, too many black dogs languish in shelters ...because people are hesitant to adopt them. National Black Dog Day, celebrated each year on October 1, seeks to change that. Every ear, tail, bark, and size comes in some beautiful shade of black. Big paws and little paws, too. If you are seeking to add a canine companion to your pack, consider adopting one with an ebony sheen. Their loyalty is no less or more than another dog, but they need a home, too. This young pup presented having difficulty walking and urinating frank blood (Hematuria). Possible Differentials include: 1 coagulopathy(bleeding disorder) 2 Trauma 3Uroliths(stone in bladder) 4Neoplasia... 5Urinary Tract Infection 6Estrus( heat in female dog, SN:this is a male) In a perfect world , I would utilize all the modern medicine at my finger tips. Diagnostic Options would include: 1 Urinalysis 2Bloodwork 3Radiographs 4Ultrasound In the end, we did what we could within the clients budget. My working diagnosis centered around trauma. We used what the client had to get Prince pain free and walking. Over the course of 3 days the hematuria resolved and prince started walking unassisted.
