Last week Spalding County Parks, Public Grounds and Leisure Services announced the winners for the Essay Contest that was offered to all 4th, 5th, & 6th graders in Spalding County. The topic for the essay was "What would I give the world and why." Jonothan Owens and Kindin Bates were this years winners! (Photo 1) Kindin Bates read his winning essay in the Flint River Regional Library on Wednesday 12/23.... Kindin started his essay, "...if I had the power to give the world something it would be kindness...Why would you bully someone just because they have a disability or not as smart as you." (Photo 2) 5th grader, Jonothan Owens receives his certificate and award from Leisure Service Manager, Kelly Carmichael. Jonothan closed out his essay with, "One day maybe I can give everyone on this Earth a house. The state's motor vehicle system is being updated during those days and DRIVES will be unavailable for all motor vehicle registration and title transactions This will be statewide.
