Today's Meditation comes from Edie Reed. Today I am thankful for Willie’s Roadhouse on satellite radio. As someone at high risk from the virus, I have been homebound since March. Fortunately, we have a second home on top of a beautiful mountain in north Georgia. My only outings have been Sunday afternoon drives down mountain backroads while listening to Willie’s Roadhouse channel on the car radio. It brings back memories of the early days of our marriage when we were born so...utherners living in New England, listening to country music to hold on to home. Were it not for those drives I would not have heard Dolly Parton’s recent song about the pandemic called When Life is Good Again. Here are some of the lyrics. We’ve been brought to our knees. We’ve been so ill at ease There are no guarantees But you know life goes on This too shall pass away Bring new and different days We need to change our ways And right our wrongs. . . Let’s open up our hearts, and let the love shine in We’ve all got knees to bend, And we’ll just pray ‘til then Ask God’s forgiveness when Life is good again. . . We’ll make it through this long dark night, Darkness fades when faced with light But everything’s going to be alright When life is good again. Dear God, thank you for being our help in all times good and bad. We do not know what the future will bring, or what new challenges lie ahead, but we know you are always on our side. Help us to care for one another as you care for us, so that life is good for everyone. Amen Edie Reed See more

Today's Meditation comes from JoAnn West TODAY, I AM THANKFUL... Each morning I awaken to see the sky outside my bedroom window telling me what the day may hold in store for me. And each morning my first thought is thank you God for the day ahead of us. This is the day the Lord hath made. Usually I then focus on just getting my creaky bones out of bed. I tell my friends that I sound like the 4th of July as I try to limber up for the day. Then I thank God for being able to g...et out of bed and limber up! As the day progresses I sit at my breakfast table looking out at all the flowers and trees in my backyard and all of the animals that make it home. Again I thank God for the joy of being retired and able to have such a view. Throughout each day I thank God for so many things and am humbled to be so blessed. Both in the past, the present and the future I see the working of God in my life, and of all the things I am thankful for feeling that He is with me all day every day is at the top of the list. Even the rough spots in life were channeled into a career I loved, children to enjoy and life beyond the age of many people who were younger than me. So in each day’s hours I try not to forget to say thanks....for the parking spot, the kind stranger, the smiling child, my many friends, and this body that is working as hard as it can to get me where I need to go. Dear Lord, Thank you for our many blessings. Both the ones we are aware of and the ones we often overlook. Thank you for our loved ones and the many people who show us love as we go through our lives. Thank you for this season of gifts. And thank you for your son who gave us the most loving gift of all. Amen. Jo Ann West See more

Today's Midday Meditation comes from Row Henson: Today, I am thankful that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. During the invocation of a Sunday morning worship, one of the deacons assigned to pray included these words in his opening petition: "Lord, the time has changed, but you haven't. He was referring to Daylight Savings Time, the practice of advancing clocks during summer months by one hour so the light extends into the evening. Typically this means... adjusting them forward an hour near the start of Spring, then back in the Fall to regular hours. Many in the congregation were feeling the effects of losing an hour’s sleep. The deacon reminded the congregation that even though DST brings change, our Lord does not - he is the same at every juncture of the year. God does not change like the weather; one day cold, the next hot. He does not have an occasion to be loving in one place and time as opposed to another. He is always the same. It would be contrary to his name to be otherwise. The author of the book of Hebrews reminds us that God is a constant. The unwavering ways of God challenge me to remain faithful in the tough times. The unchangeableness of God incentivized me to be constant in my journeys. The absolute trustworthiness of our Lord gives me a gritty determination to remain trustworthy to him, and because he is faithful to me, I can and must be faithful to him. Thought to ponder: "Life is a grindstone. Whether it grinds us down or polishes depends on us." Meditation from "The Near Side." Book written by my nephew, Reverend Winfred Huff Row Henson See more
