The Douglass Theatre

This certainly is where the south rocks! We love that we get to be the stage upon which so many have rocked out on.

If you’ve passed through our event space, you may have seen this beautiful and historic piece that is actually one of the early film projectors that was once used right here in the theater during the days of Charles H. Douglass. Crazy enough, the machine used to internally burn coal to light and power the projection. Interesting to see how far the film industry has come over the last century!

Here at the Douglass, we’ve been featuring incredible talent on our stage. Despite the pandemic, that mission remains the same. At The Douglass, we are staying Covid ready with hand sanitizer stations at every door and walkway leading into the theatre. You can still book a tour to explore this incredible, historic space with us on our website today!

Did you know that this portion of the building is actually one of the original exterior walls from the main structure built back in the early 1900s? Even with the extension of what was, a two-story building next to the theatre (which is now our one-story event space), we have been able to maintain the integrity of this little piece of history along with so many other features from the theatre's beginnings.
