15 years ago I purchased this adorable house in Augusta, GA. 2 years later, the economy crashed. I found myself $30,000 underwater in the house and was facing a job transfer. At that moment, I decided to pivot and rent out my property. I became an accidental landlord and in 2008, began my real estate investing journey. Now, in 2020, I own 18 rental units, self manage my own properties from a distance, juggle family responsibilities and still manage a full-time job. The point is that you can invest in real estate as a wealth building vehicle- even if you have a full-time job. It doesn't have to be one or the other. You can do both.
