Tunes By The Tracks

Thinking a Tunes By the Tracks Update is in order before the calendar flips into September. For the moment, the Governor’s Public Health State of Emergency is still in effect. It may expire Sept 11th. It may not. Executive orders are limited by State law to being in effect 30 days max. So, far all of the executive orders related to the Public Health Emergency have been extended every time they near the deadline. We’ll continue to watch and see. That said, I’ve talked to a... number of our folks: sponsors, village neighbors, volunteers, village supporters, musicians, and public health folks. The consensus it that we pass on the September portion of Tunes By the Tracks and hold to the idea of October Tunes loosely while acknowledging that it may well be best that we forego the 2020 gatherings completely. If prudence deems we pass, our folks are keen to see if we can sort out an alternative. I’m talking with folks again today and tomorrow. Will plan to post a more proper update Sunday. Greetings All, The revised starting date for this year’s Tunes By the Tracks is Friday, September 4th. It’s not the decision we want to take. Yet, delaying the series until the fall lines up best with the opinions of public health folks and the CDC guidelines for re-opening gatherings greater than 250 people. Statewide restrictions continue through end of May and Georgia’s State of Emergency remains in effect until mid-June. Postponing the series is disappointing to us and ot...hers. Yet, the decision has the support of the artists, sponsors and volunteers, Main Street folks, and the organizing leadership team. We are confident it is best. Beginning Tunes By the Tracks in the fall lets current Covid-19 gathering restrictions run their course. We will put the time to excellent use as we prepare to gather again in our outdoor space with social distancing in view. Tunes By the Tracks remains committed to bringing Georgia grown music to the Stone Mountain Village. The series is a curated offering of indie roots, blues, and Americana live music. It is a community building gathering of neighbors, musicians, and friends. We’re sad to miss the spring portion of Tunes By the Tracks but excited for the fall. Thinking it good to share this April 5th post again. So far we're still planning for the 29th of May. If things go as planned, we'll get 14 Fridays in for 2020. We're still tracking the CDC, Johns Hopkins, and the IHME data. At this point, it looks like we'll be OK. However, the current easing/lifting of restrictions may make matters tricky on the recovery timeline. I hope not but we'll keep watching and keep you posted. Thanks again for staying Tuned.
