ATTN visitors: Through a lot of work and expense from the Clyde Shepherd board, we now have several videos of the suspect and his vehicle in the recent break-ins at the nature preserve. We need your help. This late model blue Mazda CX is definitely the perp in at least some of the incidents. The tag is not clear enough so we need you to keep an eye out for this vehicle and to record the entire tag. It appears from the videos that he waits for people to leave their cars an...d walk into the trails and then pulls up behind them, breaks in, steals everything he can reach and then takes off within 1-2 minutes. The first two digits appear to be "CP" and the last two are "62" or possibly "67" Please record the full tag of this vehicle if you see it and forward to us or Officer Crigo on the Medlock Park Patrol See more

Special thanks to the Wild Birds Unlimited store in Decatur for the donation of 100 pounds of seed to the Clyde Shepherd nature preserve. That’s about a months worth.

Unfortunately, we have had another photographers car broken into at the nature preserve today. Apparently, these criminals have determined that the neighborhood and our parking area is a good place to steal decent people’s stuff. Please make sure your doors are locked, your alarm is turned on and you don’t leave a lot of valuable stuff in your car for the time being. Also, please alert the police if you see suspicious vehicles cruising the street without stopping or any suspicious behavior at the nature preserve. We have consulted with the neighborhood patrol and DeKalb county police and will be taking significant action in the next week to try and curb these break-ins.

Fox Sparrow I think Fox Sparrows are one of the more distinctive sparrows that spend the winter with us. They love thickets and do most of their foraging on the ground so this was a pretty lucky look.
